What is Yoga Therapy?

  Yoga Therapy is a healing modality that leverages the techniques and wisdom found within yoga philosophy.  Yoga therapists take a whole body, integrative approach to adapting the practices of yoga to fit a client or community group. Yoga Therapy sessions tend to follow these general guidelines:

  • An Initial assessment and evaluation of the client’s health history and current condition

  • An individualized program that aligns with the clients or groups unique goals and needs. 

  • Continued Support to monitor progress, make adjustments, and integrate the yoga practices. 

What techniques do you  use?

Yoga Therapists work within a set of tools and practices found in the yoga traditions. These tools can be applied to Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual health.  Practices include: 

  •  Asanas (Postures); physical movements that can improve strength, balance, flexibility and pain relief.

  • Pranayama (Breathwork); breathing techniques that regulate the breath, reduce stress, improve respiratory function.

  • Mindfulness and Meditation; practices to focus the mind reduce stress and anxiety and provide a sense of inner peace. 

  • Education on the philosophy of yoga as it applies to discovering well being
